How to Join the Genesee County Kennel Club, Inc

We always welcome prospective members to our club who are in good standing with the American Kennel Club, who are not guilty of fraudulent or dishonorable practices in connection with the sale and sport of dogs, and who are willing to be an active part in the club operations and attend meetings.

The Genesee County Kennel Club (GCKC) meets several times a year, typically on the weekday evening.  We do not meet in February, June or July. The location of the meetings may vary, but they are typically held in Genesee County at a restaurant, a member’s home, or another meeting venue. Please confirm the time and location at the start of the month with the Club Secretary.

After you attend 3 meetings, you can complete an application form provided by the Club Secretary.  Please note that working the entire day at a GCKC hosted AKC event will be counted the same as attending one meeting. The application form is returned accompanied by one year’s dues (currently $5.00) and an initiation fee ($3.00). If approved, you will spend one year as an Associate Member. During this period you would not be allowed to vote or hold office, but you are entitled to all other privileges of GCKC. An Associate Member may resign at any time and the initiation fee would be refunded. After the one year, the Executive Board would vote you in or reject for reason and refund the application fee.

One very important club policy you should know about concerns members exhibiting at our shows. The policy states "NO GCKC MEMBER WILL HANDLE ANY DOG AT THE GCKC SHOWS" Members are expected to work at our shows and in the interest of good sportsmanship, we maintain this policy.

Hope to see you at an upcoming meeting!
