Genesee County Kennel Club was incorporated in the state of Michigan on August 27, 1934. Its stated purpose is "to promote breeding and showing of pure bred dogs, to stimulate public interest in the dog by giving shows and prizes for the same, and to create a lively interest in the owning and raising of pure bred dogs". The Articles of Incorporation are maintained and kept by the club President.

The club is a 501(c)(7) exempt organization as approved in 1934 and reconfirmed by way of an Internal Revenue Service letter on January 18, 1983. We remain dedicated to our purpose, our yearly dog shows can be defined as the longest running sporting event in the Genesee County area.
